Breckenridge Weather and Climate

Stunning sunrise shines on Breckenridge ski resort as seen from the Blue River. One of the most celebrated phrases in Breckenridge is, “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.” This is an essential truth of weather in Breckenridge and Summit County. The weather in Breckenridge varies greatly and can even vary from minute to minute. Overall Breckenridge is sunny and snowy. As crazy as it sounds, Breckenridge averages 300 days of sunshine and 300 inches of snow each year!

The summers in Breck are almost perfect. Daily you will find morning sunshine giving way to generally short afternoon showers. Temperatures never get too hot and evenings are cool with temperatures in the 50’s and 60’s with low humidity. Autumn is usually cool and sunny, with periodic snowfall.

Winters can be pretty cold but for the most part the temperatures hover in the 20’s and with the low humidity this creates the perfect conditions for champagne powder and lots of it.

The weather varies widely and it can snow any time of year. We suggest bringing layered clothing to suit the varying conditions. It's important to wear sunglasses or goggles to protect your eyes and always wear sunscreen when you are at high altitude. For your convenience, the Lodgepole General Store near the lobby of the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 offers a selection of these items for purchase.
